About Levamentum
Levamentum, LLC is a small, private psychotherapy and coaching practice located in Greater Boston. We currently offer appointments by telehealth only (secure video/audio link).
Levamentum is a Latin word meaning “an alleviation, mitigation, or consolation”. It is derived from levō (“I relieve, alleviate”) + -mentum (“instrument, medium”). For many English-language speakers, the word connotes lifting or elevating of the mind, a freeing of burdens of the mind. Levamentum, LLC strives to provide services in the spirit of both the meaning of the Latin word, and the English-language feeling.
About Dr. Hruby
Dr. Adela Hruby, founder of Levamentum, is a professor, researcher, psychotherapist, and coach. She has a doctorate in nutrition and has been a nutrition and public health researcher for over a decade. She has published over 50 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts and authored a number of book chapters. As a Massachusetts-licensed mental health counselor and a coach, Adela focuses on personal health and well-being. Whether a client is seeking therapy or coaching, her approach is non-judgmental, compassionate, person-centered, and strengths-based. She believes that each client is the expert on themselves, and that she, on the outside looking in, can often bring about insight, shine new light, reflect what’s there in a “different” language. She knows that sometimes, life is a little easier when someone else just “gets it”.
Dr. Hruby was educated at Cornell University, Tufts University, and Suffolk University. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University. She received her coaching training at Wellcoaches. She has been a registered yoga instructor (RYT 200) since 2008.
